Girl Scouts San Diego Backpacking Trainers

GSSD Backpacking Trainers

We serve 300-400 girls and adults in our hiking, backpacking and advanced backpacking progression leading trips from the High Sierras to Appalachia. Our girls in our highly developed Youth Leader program lead right alongside us.

We might be small in number, but we are huge in heart. We are focused on training adult Girl Scouts so they can take their troops backpacking and teach girls how to safely navigate the wilderness.

Two Sentinels Girl Scout Camp

Founded in 1936, Two Sentinels is a volunteer-run resident camp focused on backpacking and rustic camp experiences nestled among the pine trees, granite slopes, and clear waters of the Sierra Nevada.

Butano Creek Girl Scout Camp Volunteers

Butano Creek Girl Scout Camp

Council Affiliation: Girl Scouts of Northern California

Located in the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains, Butano Creek offers three backpacking units for girls entering middle school through high school with one, two, or three night trips through Big Basin State Park.

NorCal BIG Girl Scout Volunteers

Located in the San Francisco Bay Area, we teach backpacking and wilderness hiking skills to girls (sixth grade and up) and adults - no prior experience required. We lead overnight trips, a two night trip, and an extended summer trip.

East Bay BIG Girl Scout Volunteers

Based out of the San Francisco East Bay Area, we serve girls grades 6 and up and adults of all experience levels. We’ve trekked the Santa Cruz Mountains, Angel Island, and other Bay Area locales.

Trek Wild offers volunteer led hiking and backpacking opportunities in the central and southern regions of the GSCCC Council.

High Adventure Mentors offers wilderness hiking courses, backpacking programs, and paddling adventures for seniors, ambassadors, and volunteers, along with mentorship to empower troop leaders to confidently lead their own adventures.

Shark Bait Girl Scout Troop Leaders

Shark Bait is a legacy troop of around 100 scouts in grades 6-12. We have a robust outdoor program including participation in Tambu (backpacking competition) and backpacking progression from beginner to advanced with a summer long-term.
